Now that is a good bit of money for a little car, but still considering that last gen it would cost you almost 40k to max it out added in with the reported improved build quality and I think that's pretty reasonable.

That actually is pretty impressive. The last generation Cooper Hardtop (non-S) could break $30k with options easily.

I know it's a BMW underneath but that still seems a little pricey when you compare it to the Focus & Fiesta STs along with the WRX. Is it really $6 or $7k better than a Fiesta ST?

Not if it's anything like the previous one. My ex had one and she loved to carry on about how it's practically a BMW. Nope, far from it. It (and some BMWs) had it's share of cheap feeling materials and odd noises.

Well I haven't driven one yet but from what I hear, it's pretty good. I mean I really like the new Mini but that decision is up to the person buying. However it should be noted that a comparable focus st and WRX with the same options would cost about the same as a Mini Cooper s.

Right but they are significantly larger and more practical cars. Now if you're buying a mini thats probably not what you're looking for but it still should command a higher price.

No, it's not worth $6 or 7k more than a Fiesta ST. You can actually get them reasonably close in price if you don't add a bunch of options to the MINI. But for people who love MINIs it's really hard to not start piling stuff on like an addict. Racing strips, mirror caps, spoiler, Union Jack on the roof.....

If you can actually show restraint, though, the MINI comes out to about $2k more.

Are John Cooper Works options out yet for the new model? If it isn't, then forget it. That's where the meat of the costly options are.
